Albert Einstein once said, “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” This is completely true about are society now, since our society was based off of mistakes. Mistakes are made in order to better improve things in our world.
Mistakes are a necessity to life, without mistakes, we would never learn anything. But taking a chance is needed in order to make a mistake. Nothing is wrong with taking a chance in order to try something new, even if people may thing that your idea is crazy or unrealistic, because unlike those who doubt you and are closed minded, you have an actual idea. For instance, everyone believed that Christopher Columbus was crazy for even thinking about trying a new route to get to India because back then everyone thought the world was flat and if you go too far you would fall off the Earth, but Columbus did not care what others thought he was determined and took a chance without knowing the consequences. This chance that he took not only allowed people to become aware of other people in the world, but it completely changed how others saw the world, people realized that the world was not flat but round. Taking a chance can lead to great things for not only yourself, but for other people and society. Instead of being enlightened about the world, we would be oblivious to everything in the world because no one would have the guts to come up with an idea to tell others about and take a chance.
Without mistakes who knows where our world would be now. There would be no IPods, cell phones, televisions, or durable buildings. There would be no technology what so ever in the world, which many people would find it horrendous to hear of such a world without any technology. We would know nothing about outer space, technology or about how large the world actually is. Without the trial and errors that were made in the past, we could still possibly be living in huts or caves, hunting for our food and striving to get through harsh weather conditions, struggling each and every day. This would not be a world that anyone would wish to live in.
Who wants to go through life doing the same thing each and every day and being too scared to come up with or voicing their ideas? Trying new things and learning from experiences, is what life is about. No one wants to be put into a box and only be allowed to think one way and never be creative. Mistakes are made every day, so no one should ever feel like they are the only person in the world who has made a mistake; I bet many people in the past has made the same mistakes that you have. The medicine penicillin, which is now widely used by doctors, was created by a mistake, but this mistake turned out to be a good one because it now helps millions of people when they are sick. Great ideas are based off of mistakes.
Great post! It had a definite purpose and meaning. I loved the examples you gave to support the "learning through mistakes" theory because all your evidence is true! Your passage gave me some real insight on to not look at only the negatives of mistakes. It takes real boldness to go out and try things you have never done before, and if you mess up in the process you can only learn from it. Mistakes don't ever set you back in your path because they teach you what not to do for the next time it comes around. Very intelligent ^^
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you took a quote from a genius and you aapplied it to our life, was brilliant. You basically was tellin the reader to go out in the world and take chances. the examples you used, stating how everyone makes mistakes, and where would we be if we did not make them. It relates to the old christian saying, we fall down but we get up.
ReplyDeleteI love how you persuaded readers that making mistakes is not so bad because otherwise people wouldn’t learn. Many people are so wound up on being perfectionists and making important discoveries that they don’t realize that the mistakes they could have made would have benefited them in the long run if they had just learned from them. Your post made me relax and realize no one is perfect and you need to take chances to succeed in life. Overall, it was a great post.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree some mistakes in life have led to revolutionary concepts. One of my favorite example is that the potato chip was an accident because they cut a potato too thin.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog. The fear of making mistakes can prevent us from trying anything new or moving out of our comfort zone. This is such a terrible waste of our skills and our talents and robs us from truly enjoying life. Just the word, “mistake” will strike fear in a lot of people's minds when it really shouldn’t. They’re actually good things not bad. You do a great job and stating how making mistakes is an important part of life and withoutn them we wouldnt have much.
