“A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work” are great words from Colin Powell. Everyone can dream, but it takes a truly determined and strong person to actually make their dream a reality.
I once heard a teacher tell a student “You always want things to be handed to you on a silver platter, without even doing any work. In life things are never handed to you without hard work, so get your act together.” This is kind of true, I have noticed that many teens do not want to work to achieve their dreams or goals, but they would just like it to magically happen or for someone to make it happen for them. It seems that so many people in our society have become lazy and do not know the true meaning of hard work. It seems like lately people are living by the “The Lazy Song” by Bruno Mars. Sometimes I wonder where our world is going to be in a few years because how can we advance as a society if no one wants to work and have determination? Without determination will our society ever survive?
Personally, I do not want things to be handed to me; I would rather earn things because it would give me a sense of satisfaction that I can do whatever I set my mind to. Its seems that the teens who live in Palmdale and want things to magically be handed to them, are still stuck in Palmdale not doing anything with themselves because they are still waiting for things to magically happen to them. These same people were the ones saying how much they can’t wait to leave Palmdale, but yet they are still here and still waiting. Apparently they will be waiting for forever because things do not just happen magically in life. I just do not understand people sometimes because their logic makes no sense at all at times. Life is not a dream world, it is reality.
Yeah reality can be a drag at times, but it can be fun if you want it to be. By fun I absolutely do not mean doing drugs, but to do things that you enjoy, like dance, paint, write poetry, go to a concert, or do something crazy like go indoor sky diving (which I may say is a blast, but can be dangerous). Maybe these people who chose not to work hard just see reality to be a drag and too much work, but life is only a drag if you make it a drag. You get as much out of life as you put in.
You’re so true about today’s generation. Kids have turned into spoiled little brats that throw fits whenever they don’t get the newest IPhone or the biggest flat screen T.V. When they grow up they will have no one to baby them and will learn the hard way that they will have to work hard to get what they want. Besides, when you get something you work hard for it feels so much better than getting that thing handed down to you. Overall, it was a very nice post and I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with your post and you chose a great post to expand on! Dreams are very rare, they do not just appear out of the sky and shoot down into your brain, they are thought about carefully and chosen with great care. And once you have an amazing dream to shoot for, you can not just wait around for the chance to come, you have to go out and actually try. So many spoiled kids believe that anything and everything in life will come easily to them but you have to work at it to have a successful life. Nothing ever just comes on a silver platter.
ReplyDeleteI love the quote you chose. Some people feel a sense of entitlement to certain things. They just expect things to happen because they think they deserve it. They don’t realize that to have great things happen to you, you have to do great things. I think this quote captured that perfectly.
